Asian Health Services Announces $200,000 in Funding from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to Increase Oral Health Care Access to Low-Income Communities

August 30, 2023 (OAKLAND, CA) – Asian Health Services is proud to announce a grant of $200,000 from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of California. This funding, made possible through the Access to Care Grants Program, is dedicated to securing and increasing access to quality, affordable oral health care across the 15 states and Washington, D.C. where Delta Dental of California operates.

Since 2011, the Community Care Foundation has contributed more than $130 million to local community partners. The goal of these partnerships is to increase access to care, address health disparities, drive health equity and promote innovation in the oral health field.

Through this strategic grant, Asian Health Services is able to increase accessibility to quality services, including through its mobile clinic located in San Leandro, to the most vulnerable communities. One such individual is Jun, a 13 year-old patient whose parents could not drive and spoke limited English.
“Jun was referred from our San Leandro Pediatric clinic for a severe temporomandibular joint (TMJ) condition. As a new immigrant family living outside of Oakland, his parents could not drive and only spoke simple English,” said Dr. Huong Le, Chief Dental Officer, Asian Health Services. “Through the accessibility of our dental mobile clinic, we were able to administer proper dental treatment. Now the teen and his siblings are established patients of our mobile clinic.”
