OUSD:
All children in Oakland – 18 years old and younger – and students in OUSD’s Young Adult Program can receive free meals.
There are two ways to receive this food: (1) Free Home Delivery, or (2) Pick Up
(1) Free Home Delivery
To support families who can not go to our food hubs because they are supporting students during distance learning, OUSD families living in Oakland will be able to sign up for weekly home delivery of OUSD meals. Once enrolled, families will receive:
- A week’s worth of OUSD meals for each child in the house: 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, 5 suppers
- Twice a month families will also receive a fresh box of vegetables (thanks to generous donors)
An OUSD student and any of their siblings (18 years old and younger) who live in the same household are eligible for meal delivery. At least one child in the household must attend an OUSD school.
To sign up, you will need the OUSD ID number of at least one child in the household. Most students know their ID number. The ID number is the student’s lunch number and their technology password during distance learning. If you do not know your child’s ID number, contact your school site.
Families can enroll directly by filling out one of these google forms:
- OUSD Meal Delivery Sign Up Form – English
- OUSD Meal Delivery Sign Up Form – Spanish
- OUSD Meal Delivery Sign Up Form – Chinese
- OUSD Meal Delivery Sign Up Form – Arabic
If a family has an issue, needs to change or cancel their meal service, we ask that they please complete this change form.
(2) Pick Up
Meals are available at 13 locations throughout the city. Families no longer have to prove their students attend District-run schools. Students attending charter schools, private schools, or homeschooled are all eligible. Pick Up days are Mondays and Thursdays, between 8am and 1pm. Please note:
- Social Distancing measures and face coverings are required.

AHS is partnering with Alameda County Food Bank in providing monthly food distribution to our community members. Please read and follow the rules below.
Thank you for coming to our food distribution. To promote a positive experience for all we kindly want to remind you of the following:
- All are welcome! Everyone, regardless of race, gender, age, and language, is able to participate in our food distribution.
- Lines and order: Since there is always a large crowd, we ask that you line up and follow our staff’s instructions. If there is an issue, please flag one of our staff to assist you.
- Respect, Patience, and Calmness: Stay calm and patient with other community members and staff. To ensure fairness, you are unable to save a spot in line for an individual that is not physically present. Each household can only receive one bag of food. Food cannot be exchanged.
- Distance: Our staff will need space to prepare and distribute food. We kindly ask that you stay in line and refrain from leaning into the food bins for a look.
- Safety: Your safety is our highest priority. If a situation becomes unsafe, we may need to stop or pause the food distribution ensure safety for all.
