Ryan Leonard Pei is passionate about harnessing data and technology to simplify healthcare delivery for individuals and their families.
Ryan has spent the past 8 years in leadership roles at Anthem, the nation’s second largest health insurance provider serving over 40 million members. As the Director of Product Strategy & Management, Ryan has led teams to build a portfolio of healthcare economics and analytics products that have enabled Anthem to scale value-based care nationally. Prior to Anthem, Ryan served as the Assistant Director of Hospitals at the New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation, where he oversaw internal analytics and reported to the Executive Director of Kings County Hospital. His experience working with one of nation’s largest public hospitals has shaped his perspectives on inequities that still challenge the U.S. healthcare system. Previously, Ryan has also worked in China through his internship with world-renowned pulmonologist Dr. Zhong Nanshan.
Ryan has served on the Associate Board of Apex for Youth, an educational non-profit organization to help underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC to achieve college readiness and success.
Ryan is a Sloan Fellow pursuing a M.S. in Management at Stanford Graduate School of Business. He studied pre-med at the University of Pennsylvania, and graduated with a degree in East Asian Languages and Civilizations. Ryan currently lives in the Bay Area with his wife, Tammie, a social impact investor
