Dr. Anita Chang
Dr. Anita Chang, (a medical provider and Site Director at LMC) has been named a HBV hero! She was recognized for being a viral hepatitis champion at AHS and beyond. Dr. Chang spearheaded the opening of AHS’ Hepatitis B and C Specialty Clinic in 2016 to treat and manage patients with liver disease. She also helped increase the capacity of other primary care providers to treat Hepatitis B at AHS and nationally through San Francisco Hep B Free’s Project Echo, a monthly case conference.
“Advocating for hepatitis B awareness in college was the first time I became passionate about API health issues. At AHS, championing better care for our patients with hepatitis B has been one of my most meaningful endeavors. We can reduce stigma around this very common infection that affects 1 out of 12 Asian Americans. We screen all of our patients to get them into treatment early and keep their livers healthy and prevent unnecessary deaths. Everyone should get tested and know their status.”
