The residents will receive clinical experiences in a group practice environment alongside with a team of general dentists and dental specialists. The faculty at AHS are experienced practitioners who have taught and mentored residents and pre-doctoral dental students for over 20 years. The residents will gain knowledge of serving low-income patient population in a community health center setting.

In addition, the residents will gain experience providing oral health care to a diverse population of race, religious, ethnic and economic backgrounds.

The AEGD program is a 12-month long residency curriculum.

Clinical experience will be about 75 percent of the time, with the rest of the time spent on literature reviews, clinical case presentations, didactic curriculum that includes formal lectures, either in-person or via video teleconferencing, and small-group interactive sessions, ADA, CDA, oral health network, subscribed educational applications and consultations.

The residents will provide comprehensive oral health care to patients and have the opportunity to perform a variety of standard and advanced clinical procedure in all areas of dentistry under direct supervision of a team of general dentists and specialists, as described in the program’s curriculum. The residents also have opportunity to collaborate with medical providers and behavioral health counselors thru provider meetings and agency trainings.
