The Art of Belonging: Asian American Stories of Diaspora and Community Care is an oral history project and multimedia exhibition that spotlights the voices of 12 AHS patients. Each story represents one of the 14 languages in which AHS provides services, reflecting the cultural and linguistic diversity of the communities we serve.

The exhibition explores how cultural identity, immigration, public health, and community care intersect to shape one’s sense of belonging. Through these deeply personal narratives, we aim to amplify the diverse experiences of Asian immigrants and underscore the power of language access, particularly in the context of community health.

A special thank you to our community partners Cut Fruit Collective for commissioning and curating the artwork and the Oakland Chinatown Oral History Project for providing interpretation and translation support. The exhibition was on display at ARTogether in May 2025.
